Although discussions have been taking place for some weeks, formal confirmation was only received this morning from Surrey Highways of the dates for two-way lights and a road closure. The final road closure dates were agreed to align with school holidays. The road affected is the stretch of Crawley Down Road between Wheeler Way and the county boundary. The works are to connect sewage to the new Devine Homes development. No other section of Crawley Down Road will be shut. We asked for signs to be placed at the following junctions to give regular road users advance warning of the road closure:
Crawley Down Road/Copthorne Road (Felbridge)
Burleigh Way/Crawley Down Road (Crawley Down)
Turners Hill Road/Crawley Down Road (Crawley Down)
The details are as follows:
27th March-14th April - permission for two-way lights (works will take place within this period but not necessarily for the full duration)
10th April-14th April - permission to close the road to all traffic
The details are on the Parish Council website; Worth Parish Council have been advised and I've also put the information on the Crawley Down Facebook page and asked for it to be shared. Surrey Highways confirm that the emergency services, Metrobus, etc either have been or will be advised along with the local schools and Parish Council and have also said they will formally contact WSCC. The Parish Council hasn't yet received formal notification from the developers although a letter could have been delivered today.
Any updates will be posted on the Parish Council website www.felbridge-pc.org.uk
I would be grateful if you could share this information with anyone who you consider might be affected by the road closure.
