Gas and water works update – A22 East Grinstead

Major gas works on A22 London Road are on course to be finished next Monday.

Utility company SGN is likely to complete replacing its gas main at the London Road/Imberhorne Lane junction five days earlier than planned.

It means the traffic lights are set to be restored as normal on July 6 – easing disruption for through traffic using the A22.

Afterwards, South East Water is due to start work on installing its new water main in Imberhorne Lane on Monday, July 13.

A one-way road closure will be in operation for Imberhorne Lane between Thursday, July 23 and Friday, September 4 while this work is done.

A diversion route will be in place via London Road, Beeching Way, Brooklands Way, Turners Hill Road and back onto Imberhorne Lane.

South East Water is running a one-way system so motorists can travel from Imberhorne Lane onto London Road.

Motorists wishing to reach Imberhorne Lane from London Road will need to follow the diversion.

Temporary traffic lights will return to London Road in mid to late August when the new pipe is installed.

South East Water’s work is expected to take seven weeks to complete.
