I am writing from Blind Veterans UK, a charity that believes that “No one who has served our country should have to battle blindness alone”. We support these individuals, who have been blinded through conflict, illness or accident, supporting them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

We have an upcoming fundraising event, Walk 100 London to Brighton 2012. The event commences in Richmond, London on the morning of Saturday 9 June 2012 and ends in Brighton on Sunday 10 June 2012. Almost 300 individuals are participating and they will be raising much needed funds to support our valuable work. They will be walking 100K through the day and night endeavouring to complete the course in 24 hours! In 2011 over 200 walkers participated and raised £85K for the organisation.

We’re seeking volunteers along the route to assist in supporting the function of the rest and food stops and also to give a morale boost to the participants and a friendly smile to encourage them along their way to the next checkpoint.

There are five sites which would need a minimum of 5 volunteers per site.

·         Felbridge

·         Crawley Down

·         East Grinstead

·         Scaynes Hill

·         Plumpton

All of these sites are covered facilities with refreshments, rest areas and toilets available.

Would you be so kind and let me know if you would be able to spread the work and assist us to recruit volunteers? We’re happy to provide further information about what will be required of any individual that offers their services.

For more information about our work please visit www.blindveterans.org.uk or visit the event site at www.walk100.org.uk

I look forward to hearing if you can help us support this fantastic and worthwhile event.

Best regards,

Leigh Mason
